I had the pleasure of working on Shane Zhang & Nick Fu's Starshine (2025), as an editor, an animator, a voice actress and a motion capture preformer, playing the pink-haired character Robin--her voice is also mine!!! (What a fun side quest!)
This project was genuinely so fun, and I am proud to have contributed to bringing it to life.
While animating these characters, I tried to be very mindful of their personalities in not just the way they spoke, but also, the posture in which they sit, hold their hands, etc. I had a lot of fun animating emotional interactions on this project and it sparked a passion in me.
And then, the director asked me to preform in Mocap--something I've never done, but it sure was a blast! It was a great exersize in thinking about the full body mechanics of an animated character with exaggerated proportions. I would say with certainty that experiencing being a mocap performer gave me a deeper understanding of different ways I can emphasize body movement to make it more appealing, even while I am hand animating a shot.
The film is available to view on SVA's 3D Animation & VFX Vimeo page. I did do a few more shots than what is featured here, but these were my favorites of the bunch. Hope you enjoy.
A compilation of what I did on this project!
