Starting Line (2025) - Lead Texture Artist

I had the joy of working on Nidhi Sharma's film Starting Line (2025) as the lead texture artist. It was so much fun to do the hand painted textures on the hero props and racetrack to match Sharma's colorful, childlike vision for the style.

All texture work was done in Adobe Substance Painter. You can find the film on SVA's 3D Animation Vimeo page.

Turntables and some clips from the film in which they were used.

I was tasked with creating 5 different racecar variations. This one resembles the Indian flag, as the protagonist is Indian. But as for the rest of the cars, I wanted them to stand out against the grey of the road to make the scene colorful and exciting.

I was responsible for the entire outdoor environment minus the countdown lights. It was a challenge to think about how to texture such a large surface, especially when some elements would be seen far less.

Interior and exterior of the little girl's father's car. The director requested it to almost look like an old toy car.

Okay, this one was just fun. Obviously the best illustration I've ever made.

The brick, the hero prop! I tried to be careful with the details here. The director requested a very toyish, colorful brick. It's certainly hard to pack that much character into a square, but I think the modeler and I pulled it off!
