A Demon Lurks Nearby

A drawing of my character Kristen Johanna on a demon hunt. I wanted to paint something with dramatic lighting that had a lot of emotion in the face.
I started by throwing down my base colors, blocking out areas of light and shadow without really detailing anything, just focusing on the shapes and the light. It was one of those situations where I managed to get the lighting idea that was in my head thumbnailed and blocked out rather quickly, and after that I moved on to detailing her, cleaning areas up and rendering out her features!
